I went with my daughter to see Disney/Pixar's new animated movie, WALL-E, last weekend. I must say, Pixar strikes gold every time they put something together. I don't think they have ever done a "bad" movie. Toy Story, Finding Nemo, The Incredibles are all some of Pixar's masterpieces, but Wall-E takes the cake. It has almost a Fantasia aura to it. The little to no dialog for most of the movie is not a problem, it wasn't for me or my daughter (who is 8 years old). The visuals, sound effects, and zaniness that is WALL-E.
Wall-E is a trash collecting/compacting robot who is left on Earth after the planet becomes inhabitable due to so much trash collecting from Humans. He is lonely as the only "thing" left on Earth, an example of this is his friendship with a cockroach. He longs to interact with someone other than the bug he has befriended, as evidenced by his watching old movies on his ipod. As he is entranced in his daily routine of collecting and compacting trash, a space craft lands and out comes this robot...a very sleek and stylish robot named EVE who is responsible for finding any sign of life left on Earth. The trials and tribulations that WALL-E encounters with his new found friend take him on a journey through space and his first encounter ever with Humans.
This is a must see for adults and kids alike, for it will likely be the best animated movie you've ever seen. I'd put it in the top 3 for animated movies of all time, right behind the Lion King and Toy Story.
5 out of 5 stars- Go see it in the theaters, rent it again when it comes out on DVD, then buy the DVD. That's how good it is.
